The GOME Aerosol Level-2 Product consists in aerosol optical
depth at 500 nm and aerosol type data for each selected ground-pixel.
Data are processed by own AERGOMEPRO (AErosol Retrieval from GOME
data PROcessing) code, using GOME Level-1B data (calibrated and geolocated spectra).
file name convention: monthly compressed files (daily aot files compressed
into)
aot-YMM.tgz
- Y
- last character of the year ( remember GOME data are from 1996 to 2003, so 6 stands for 1996 while 2 stands for 2002)
- MM
- string of 2 characters for the month ( January is 01, April is 04, October is 10, etc)
- tgz
- is common compressed format handled by tar in
unix/linux environment and by winzip in windows environment
The following information are provided:
- spectrum acquisition date (#Day:YMMDD)
- start time of the orbit (#Orbit:YMMDDhhm)
- GOME pixel sequential number in the orbit
- pixel type: East West Center
- UTC time of the acquisition
- geolocation coordinates at the 4 corners of the pixel ? (latX100 ? lonX100)
- solar zenith angle related to the pixel center (SZA x 100)
- Retrieved Aerosol class:
- maritime
- desertic
- maritime polluted
- volcanic
- biomass burning
- Aerosol optical depth @ 500 nm
- Standard deviation of AOD
- Aerosol class Discrimination index (χ2 / χ1)
- χ1 value
Where
- Retrieved Aerosol class identifies the aerosol model providing the minimum
value , χ1, of Chi-square fitting function of measured and simulated
spectral radiances.
- Discrimination index (χ2 / χ1)
is the ratio between χ2 and χ1, where χ2
(χ2 ≥ χ1) is related to the aerosol model providing the nearest value of
Chi-square fitting function respect to χ1,among all tested aerosol models .
